Pasta Drama Review

Seo Yoo-Kyung(Gong Hyo-Jin) has been a kitchen assistant for three years in the Italian resturant La Sfera, and after three years she's finally promoted to a cook on the Pasta line. The drama opens on our main character gathering items for the kitchen she works at. One of the food stalls gives her two free goldfish for spending a certain amount of money. On her way to work a man bumps her and the two goldfish fly from their bag and land on the crosswalk in the middle of the street. The man who bumps her runs off and she's left to pick up her items and fret over the dying fish. Luckily, another man stops and offers to help her. He drops the goldfish in her cupped hands and pours water over them then walks with her to work so the water doesn't drain out. As they arrive at the kitchen the stranger comments that those goldfish won't survive in that kitchen. When Yoo-Kyung asks why he merely replies "because they're female." The next day, her first day in this new position, the old chief has been fired and replaced by a young chief, and the handsome stranger she met the previous day, known as Choi Hyun-Wook(Lee Seon-Gyun). Day two on the job Hyun-Wook fires every woman in that kitchen, including Yoo-Kyung. As soon as the four women are fired, Hyun-Wook smiles and a voice over from him says, "Now there are no women in my kitchen.". Yoo-Kyung refuses to be fired after being on the job two days and comes back only to be fired again, and then again. After trying a few more times, Yoo-Kyung is finally hired back into the kitchen, reluctantly by Hyun-Wook, and a not so unlikely relationship starts up between the two. Now Hun-wook says no Women in his Kitchen and absolutely no dating members of the staff so the two have to keep their relationship a secret. Times get even more difficult when the secret restaurant owner, Kim San(Alex), reveals that he is the true owner the restaurant, not just a costumer like he claimed to be, and decides to hire Hyun-Wook's old girlfriend, Oh Sae-Young(Lee Ha-Nui), giving her the position of Co-Chief.

And there you have the entire drama in an extended paragraph. Nothing ever happens in this drama, I love it. This was exactly what I needed to watch. After watching King 2 Hearts and Rooftop Prince, I needed a funny and light drama. This nailed it perfectly. A lot of people will think this drama is just alright because, really, that's all it is. It's an average and pretty laid back drama and a lot of people won't like that. But I loved it. Really the cast was the drama. The writing was very average but the cast made it great. Sometimes no plot but a fun cast is better than a good cast and a lot of plot.  This is an easy relaxing drama to watch. I could seriously watch this cast do nothing but smile and poke each other and I'd be very happy. The whole drama I had no idea who I wanted to end up with the main girl. I wanted San to end up with her cause he was such a good guy, but I also wanted Chief to get the girl cause he could be cute at times.
Team Korea, the domestic four chiefs, and Team Italy, the three chiefs trained in Italy of whom Hyun-Wook brought in, fight through the entire show but both teams are so cute. Love them all. Especially Curly. I don't know what his name was in the drama cause I just called him Curly because of his beautiful hair. Wow, I want to ruffle his hair so much. Such a cutie. I have to talk about the thing I think I loved most about actor Lee Seon-Gyun (Hyun-Wook). His voice. HOLY CRAP!!! His voice is so deep, I think I read one review where the reviewer described it as melted chocolate and I couldn't agree more. If you melted dark chocolate and found a way to make it talk then you would have Lee Seon-Gyun's voice. It is positively delicious to listen to. Wow. I could sit and listen to his voice for hours, and I did. :D When he starts explaining thing in the kitchen, or insulting a staff member, or even when he's scolding someone his voices gets really low and just thick sounding, then he shouts and it startles you and you wish he'd go back to insulting so you can hear his voice again, which he usually does.

Do I like this drama? Yes, Chief. Yes I do.

Rating: 6.5/10 (for lack of plot)

Memorable Moment: Because nothing happened in this drama, I don't have a memorable moment. So here's something that I found mildly funny. Through the whole drama Chief Hyun-Wook has this obsession with flicking his staff's foreheads when they do something wrong, which we later find out is because his Chief also had an obsession with forehead flicking. Very quickly, the staff catches on that as soon as he beckons someone over, the person is about to get Forehead Flicked.
Not only do they get flicked in the forehead they also get chastised by him.
Pain
And then shame
